How to start your Keto journey

When my friends ask me, “How do I start?” I tell them, “no more carbs.” It’s that simple. When you begin this journey It’s best to cut out all of the carbs. I also tell them vegetables don’t  count. Leanne Vogel from Healthful pursuit says, “don’t count your broccoli.” I agree with her 100%. A great example of a full day of eating is this.

Breakfast- 2-3 eggs cooked in butter with bacon. 1-2 Tablespoon’s of heavy whipping cream in coffee.

Lunch- Salad with lots of primal kitchen salad dressing. I say no tomatoes because they are a fruit. Avocado, bacon bits. Make it a big salad.

Dinner- Grass-fed beef with grilled asparagus, and lots of butter.

You want to be satiated with a high fat, moderate protein, and carbs only from broccoli and other green veggies. If you google keto meals, you will get a plethora of ideas. This gives my friends a great example, and then of course questions ensue.  Can I have this, or that? I never mind answering them, but for this lesson I will tell you to read the label. When starting out you are shooting for less then 20 grams of carbs per day. It can take weeks to stop craving sweets, but I assure you that it happens. Meanwhile enjoy all of the satiating fats, and never being hungry.I tell my friends and I will tell you. Your body will learn to use fat as fuel. That is when you will need less food. Enjoy all of the calories which you are not counting. Stop eating when you are satiated, and thats the only rule. That is how I recommend getting started on a Ketogenic diet. Your body will react quickly. This diet lowers insulin which will flip the switch for your body to use energy from your stored energy (body fat)

Just made my first pork shoulder(butt)
Dry rubbed with a mixture of salt garlic powder onion powder and oregano. 250 F for 7 hours, 500 F for 10minutes. Pulled pork for awhile! I’m excited!
